TOP TIPS FROM DOCTORS

Tooth enamel erosion. Can it be treated?
Did you know that tooth enamel is the strongest and most durable tissue in our body? It is stronger than our bones and harder than steel! Tooth enamel is the substance found in the outer layer of the teeth. Enamel is responsible for protecting your teeth from damage.
However, poor oral hygiene habits can break down and destroy it, leading to what is called "enamel erosion. This can later lead to serious dental problems and pain.

Some symptoms of tooth enamel erosion are
  • Increased sensitivity of the teeth when eating citrus, hot or cold foods
  • Discoloration of teeth (usually yellow)
  • You'll find splinters, cracks, indentations in the teeth There are more symptoms, but these are the most common. To avoid these problems you should take into account the following tips
  • Have prevention habits, this means maintaining a good oral hygiene routine, such as brushing at least 3 times a day
  • Avoiding excess or eliminating foods that can damage the enamel of your teeth
  • If you have a tendency to grind your teeth, your specialist may recommend that you wear mouth guards

In Conclusion: The best course of action is to maintain an adequate dental hygiene, watching what we eat and very important is to visit a dentist for regular cleanings and check-ups. We encourage you to contact us to provide you with the best treatment regarding the erosion of your teeth and other dental care.

Many times, oral care in children goes unnoticed and more care is taken when primary teeth fall out. it is very important to try to take good care of children's baby teeth. sometimes they fall out, but until that happens, baby teeth have an important role in helping children bite, chew food, speak clearly and many more benefits
There is a myth that the proper age for visiting the dentist is in the teens. However, dental care has to start... from 3 months of age!

With this we could control:
  • any dental pathology
  • the eruption of the primary teeth
  • and the control of a good nutrition that will serve to counteract the development of future cavities
With these tips... there are no more excuses not to take your children to the dentist.

Thumb sucking is a natural reflex for children. Babies can feel safe and happy when they suck their thumb, fingers, a pacifier or other object, which can help them learn about their world.
However, when permanent teeth appear, thumb sucking can cause problems with the proper development of the mouth and adaptation of the teeth. it can also cause changes in the palate. soothers can have essentially the same effect on the teeth.

Here are some tips also endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA):
  • parents should focus on correcting the cause of the anxiety and providing comfort for their child
  • If your child is a little older, involve him or her in choosing a method to break the habit
  • If the habit continues, he may opt for more specific actions such as bandaging the thumb or putting a sock in the child's hand at night
If the above tips do not work, the best option will always be to visit the dentist. if you consider that this is already a problem, at EJ Dental we are prepared to help you and your children. we are specialized to give you the best advice, techniques and effective treatments for these cases.

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children get an orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7. Though orthodontic treatment can be done at any age, timely treatment ensures maximum dental health.
A malocclusion is an incorrect relationship between the maxilla (upper arch) and the mandible (lower arch), or a general misalignment of the teeth. Malocclusions are so common that most individuals experience one, to some degree. The poor alignment of the teeth is thought to be a result of genetic factors combined with poor oral habits, or other factors in the early years. Moderate malocclusion commonly requires treatment by an orthodontist.
Absolutely! Crooked or misaligned teeth look unsightly, which in many cases leads to poor self esteem and a lack of self confidence. Aside from poor aesthetics, improperly aligned teeth can also cause difficulties biting, chewing and articulating clearly. Generally speaking, orthodontists agree that straight teeth tend to be healthier teeth.
One of the most commonly asked questions about dental braces is whether placing them causes any pain or discomfort. The honest answer is that braces do not hurt at all when they are applied to the teeth, so there is no reason to be anxious. In most cases, there may be mild soreness or discomfort after the orthodontic wire is engaged into the brackets, which may last for a few days.
